The MIAMI Association of REALTORS® (MIAMI) has increased its presence by 400 percent at the world’s largest commercial real estate conference, MIPIM. MIAMI Realtors will have exhibits promoting South Florida at MIPIM from March 13-16 in Cannes, France as part of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) expanded U.S. pavilion. This year, MIAMI has significantly expanded the U.S. and MIAMI/South Florida presence by adding its own adjacent exhibit space.

MIAMI has exhibited with NAR at MIPIM for four consecutive years to increase awareness of our South Florida and U.S. markets. MIAMI, which also features the markets of Broward, Jupiter and Martin County, will tout Miami’s rise as a global city, work to attract more commercial and residential investment for South Florida and emphasize the advantages of doing business with MIAMI members.

“South Florida is one of the world’s top destinations for international investment,” said George Jalil, a Miami broker and the 2018 MIAMI chairman of the board. “We are looking forward to showcasing Miami’s incredible live, work and play lifestyle and making more global connections at the world’s No. 1 business event.”

NAR hosts a U.S. pavilion to increase awareness of U.S. markets with commercial and luxury development potential. The NAR-USA pavilion is expanding in 2018 with an all-new look; associations who have committed as partners include Illinois, Missouri, Nevada, Arizona, Los Angeles, Rhode Island, Miami, Northern Virginia, Florida, San Antonio and Washington State.

Five MIAMI leaders, a MIAMI member and three MIAMI executives will represent MIAMI at the MIPIM exhibit. Participating MIAMI leaders are: Jalil, Chairman of the Board-Elect José María “Chepe” Serrano of New Miami Realty Corp.; 2018 Commercial President Brian Sharpe of Sharpe Properties Group; Commercial President-Elect Jennifer Wollmann of EWM Realty International and 2018 Residential President Jorge L. Guerra, Jr. of Real Estate Sales Force.

MIAMI member Brigitte Lina Lombari of Keller Williams will also participate.

MIAMI Chief Executive Officer Teresa King Kinney, MIAMI Senior Vice President of Public Relations & International Lynda Fernandez and MIAMI Vice President of Government Affairs and City of Doral Councilwoman Ana Maria Rodriguez will also participate.

MIAMI to Highlight Robust South Florida Real Estate Market

Foreign buyers purchased $7.1 billion of South Florida residential properties last year, up from $6.2 billion a year ago, according to the 2017 Profile of International Home Buyers of MIAMI Association of REALTORS® (MIAMI) Members conducted by MIAMI and NAR. MIAMI foreign buyers accounted for 29 percent of Florida’s $24.2 billion of international dollar sales volume. MIAMI international buyers purchased 15,400 properties, a 41.3 percent increase from one year ago (10,900). Foreign buyers accounted for 35 percent of MIAMI’s closed sales and 24 percent of Florida international sales.

Florida is the top U.S. destination for foreign buyers (22 percent of all sales), according to NAR’s 2017 Profile of International Activity in U.S. Residential Real Estate.

More than half of all international home sales in the entire state of Florida (53 percent) happen in Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach, according to the Florida Realtors® 2017 Profile of International Residential Real Estate Activity in Florida.

South Florida secures about 11 percent of all U.S. international home sales.

In 2017, once again, the United States was ranked #1 for safe and secure opportunities for investments and as the best opportunity for capital appreciation by members of the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate.

100 Countries Represented at MIPIM
More than 24,000 leading real estate executives from 100 countries will travel to Cannes for the four-day annual gathering. About 5,000 investors will be seeking opportunities.

The event brings together investors, developers, architects, hotel groups, public authorities, city mayors and property associations from around the world.
